The DualSense features the same color scheme and pattern, with the Spider-Man logo front and center on the touchpad. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is a singleplayer game, not featuring online play of any sort. Venom also appeared for a brief moment in the reveal trailer, and again in the more recent Story Trailer too.
The game opens with a battle against a super-sized Marko Flint, known as Sandman, as he towers above Midtown. You swap between both Miles and Peter to bring him down as he blasts apart whole city blocks in a blind rage. Releasing exclusively on PlayStation 5, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is the sequel to two past titles — one a familiar Peter Parker origin story; the other, Miles Morales’ main gaming debut. The DLC also brings back multiple characters from the base game like Yuri Watanabe, Silver Sablinova and Screwball, just to name a few.
This was fixed at the end of January 2025, with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 being brought to PC. In the weeks since, the PC version of the game has now seen multiple updates, all of which have targeted performance issues and bugs. I am directly reviewing this game in comparison to marvels spiderman and the miles morales game only. Everything about this game aside from web wings mechanic was a downgrade. The game should have had coop, switching between miles and peters feels pointless and unless you are doing a specific mission for them switching feels pointless. Very few side quests in the game and the few you do have are fetch quests with no impact to the story.
The only thing that doesn’t come automatically from collectibles are combat trophies and a few miscellaneous open world trophies. These are all quick to do and enemies keep spawning infinitely after the story in Crimes and Mysteriums. For those with a hazy memory, there is a brief recap of both Peter and Miles’ stories so far available, which is handy, as this is very much a sequel that weaves in both plotlines and characters from the previous games and accompanying DLC. You won’t want to jump in for the first time here since Spider-Man 2 builds on the first two games both in its mechanics and its story – but of course, there’s little reason not to, since those games are also excellent. Avoiding spoilers, the basic premise revolves around Kraven the Hunter, who is, well, craving a hunt. For those uninitiated in the character, he’s essentially The Predator, an Apex hunter blessed with super strength who has chosen New York as his next hunting ground.
These characters do add a bit more flavour to the world and its largely homogenous population of NPCs you’re clearly not intended to look at too closely. Speaking of boss battles, that’s one area that takes a noticeable step up from our initial tangos with Kingpin, Vulture, and the rest. df999 of my criticisms of the first in Insomniac’s series was how uninspired many of the showdowns felt, with their quicktime-heavy fights making a light impact. Improvements were made in Miles Morales, but here in the full-fledged sequel, boss battles really come to life. You’re made to wait a little too long for them sometimes, but when they do arrive they never fail to excite.
Is Marvel’s Spider-man 2 Getting Dlc?
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is confirmed to be a PS5 exclusive, and fans will not be able to play the superhero game on previous-gen hardware or on any rival platforms at launch. PlayStation detailed the game’s system requirements on PC in a trailer and accompanying blog post. In addition to features like ray tracing and ultrawide monitor support, the PC version will also allow integrated use of the PS5’s DualSense controllers. Given that Insomniac’s Spider-Man games are among the few that have truly made use of the PS5’s advanced haptics, you’ll definitely want to use one of those controllers if you’re able to. Originally released on PlayStation 5 in October 2023, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is the third game in the series, pairing together the protagonists from both previous entries (Peter Parker and Miles Morales) as they take on Venom and Kraven.
But out of this expansive rogues gallery, Venom is the magnum opus that reprises every emotional note the rest of the game has played. Spider-Man 2 foreshadows the looming threat he poses over dozens of its 31 main story missions. Thankfully, you’ll have massively-enhanced gadgetry and powers by the time you finally face him. There are now three different skill trees to develop as the game progresses. The two individual strands focus on what makes each hero unique, such as Miles’ bioelectricity and invisibility, and Peter’s Spider-Arms and Symbiote powers. On July 20, 2023, we finally got the official story trailer for Spider-Man 2, showing off new details of the story, as well as some gameplay and cutscenes, including the first look at the beefed-up Venom villain in-game. The swinging and combat will be familiar to long-time fans, but a handful of new abilities have been revealed. Many of these come courtesy of the slimy Symbiote suit, which can extend and grow tentacles to slam enemies into the ground. Again, there are very few gameplay details available about Spider-Man 2’s gameplay, but it’s bringing back the open-world version of New York that made the first game so successful.
A new personal favourite gadget called the Web Grabber – which pulls enemies in from a distance and makes them smack into one another – also playfully builds into this philosophy. I had a lot of fun using this before landing a sharp burst of Miles’ Venom lightning onto grouped-up goons, and now Peter can get in on that fun as well. They’re just as enjoyable, as it feels like the suit is trying to burst out of the rumbling DualSense controller in my hands. This aggressive style of play is rewarded, as the only way to heal is by building up your focus bar – filled by landing hits and timing perfect dodges – and is another way to make sure that exciting rhythm of combat is never lost.

Spider-Man 2, and to an extent all great Spider-Man stories, tackle themes of adolescence and puberty – a time of uncertainty for even the most normal of teenagers trying to control bodily fluids. We join Miles at this exact point in his life, with family ties straining, friendships facing fresh challenges, and life decisions of genuine importance being posed for the first time. Actor Nadji Jeter displays all the range needed for the role, continuing to excel as a younger Spider-Man maturing before our eyes. He’s in his early twenties so has already navigated the difficult years that Miles finds himself in, but thanks to the symbiote suit, he’s working his way through yet more bodily changes.
Having already killed Scorpion, Vulture, Shocker, and Electro, Kraven attempts to capture Black Cat. However, Miles helps her escape to Paris by using the mystical Wand of Watoomb. Meanwhile, Otto obsesses over creating enhanced limbs that exceed the human body’s limitations, creating four mechanical tentacles operated from his back and mentally controlled via a neural interface. He reveals to Peter that he is suffering from a neuromuscular disease that will inevitably immobilize him and that enhanced limbs will allow him to continue his work when his body fails.
